PROCLAMATION BY ROBERT EHRLICH, JR.
GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF MARYLAND

INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION MONTH
NOVEMBER, 2005

· Whereas, Maryland recognizes the rich diversity and cultural commonalities among world citizens and the need to foster mutual respect and trust among all people; and

· Whereas, International Education, programs, exchanges, and experiences give citizens insights into the cultures of the people of the world and thus build lasting relationships, prosperity, peace and democracy; and

· Whereas, World understanding helps our state foster sound trade partnerships and helps to build sustainable business in an ethical marketplace.

· Whereas, The arts of the world are an international language and present a unique opportunity for cross-cultural interaction and learning in schools, colleges, and communities; and

· Whereas, Future generations must have a global perspective and be more internationally engaged so that our state and world can be a more secure place for all.

Now, therefore, I, Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr. Governor of the State of Maryland, do hereby proclaim November 2005 as International Education Month in Maryland and do commend this observance to all of our citizens.
